Moving Boxes: 8 Tips For A Smooth Move

A top priority when getting ready to move is having enough moving boxes and a variety of shapes and sizes, but above all you want to get good boxes.

Here are some easy tips for finding better boxes:

  1. Start ASAP! The sooner you start the hunt, the better, so you aren’t scrambling or using sub-par
  1. Put the word out. Post online, use work chat boards, ask friends for boxes.
  1. Check the copy room. Copy boxes are sturdy and a good size for all kind of things from books to plates.
  1. Office Supply stores. Staples and other stores may have empty paper and product boxes.
  1. Buy some key boxes. You may have to supplement with paid boxes, make sure they are a thick cardboard and sturdy structure.  Consider buying wardrobe boxes for an easy closet to closet transition.
  1. Get box supplies tape, bubble wrap, labels, markers, visit the local dollar store for affordable options.
  1. Buy used. Sites like Kijiji and Craigslist often sell used moving boxes in good shape.
  1. Pay it forward. Pass along your gently used boxes to the next person who is gearing up for a move.
  1. visit the moving company you have booked your services with to see if they can supply any new or used cartons for your move.
